Serum demo: preset folder path issue

Started by morukutsu

When I download the Xfer OTT I got 2 dll's,OTT.dll and OTT.dll64bit,Im really sure I put the OTT.dll in the right folder,I have my other plugins there. But when I try to find it in FL Studio,I can't find it?

Check FL12 plugin manager window.  I assume you also emailed me about this?

Downloaded then ran on mac then sourced for files and tried opening through bigwig but no joy

make sure you're administrator of the machine.
Please put the name of the DMG you are running, and explain the exact problem, I'm not sure it's the same here or why bitwig is related.

I had to change the Xfer file location due to lack of space on my main SSD. How do I tell Serum to start reading presets/wavetables from where I relocated them to? Thanks!

Mr Steve i found the demo and managed to give it a blast and will be buying it…
ONE DAY ALL SYNTHS will be Acknowledging this step….To save me looking up how many licenses /machines can i run it on?
Many Thanks

steve_xfer

@Chrima, it will ask you for the location next time you run Serum.
@cosbro, cheers, glad you are enjoying Serum.  The license is for an individual. You can run Serum on as many machines as you personally own.

Hello, serum keep asking saying "serum needs a preset folder to run" when I go to my files and click on serum present nothing happens. Im using fl studio 11 on a mac.
Thanks

FL's "crossover" experiment is not supported (it is an incomplete windows emulator, not enough for 3rd party VST support in many cases), you need to use the native OSX version of FL Studio, or use bootcamp.

Okay, i'm a novice at this, bout this plug in for my Son's birthday and the demo version will not shut d0wn and give me  the version of the demo,,it will not install.. Please help me because i spent a lot of money on this vst

serum doesn't install as an application, but is still installed in your computer. If you want to use it in Ableton, go to preferences>file/folder, and then click the "rescan" button towards the bottom of the preferences window. and boom… serum

Hi all,

Trying to help a friend debug their issue with the presets folder.  Sounds very similar to the original post here so I'm bumping this rather than making a new thread.

I gave him the presets folder path and he has gone to it and clicked ok but it just loops him back to the folder not being found.  His computer username doesn't have weird characters but the rest of the file path would be in Japanese  - the "User" and "My Documents" parts.

You can find a video of him following the proper procedure here, with no success:

Thanks,
Jeff

is there a way I can open serum without needing the serum presets folder I can not find it anywhere and it is fustrurating also when I got serum 245 bucks was taken out instead of the 190 bucks that it costs

Brendan,  Please use the contact form regarding any pricing discrepancy (I'm guessing perhaps you are in Canada or Australia?) .   You need to install 1.0 and then re-run the update installer.

Warm regards,
Steve

okay so when I install 1.0 I download the first update ?? and when I download that update I run the file and save the update where?? thanks and yes I live in Australia (:

Everything should be automatic in the installers.  Run 1.0, and then the latest update installer, in that order.

installed 1.0 version of serum then I installed all updates opened serum on abelton and still no presets folder or any folder that says xfer or anything?

You're probably looking in the wrong place, from within Serum use menu->show serum presets folder.

I am having a presets problem too. I accidentally overwrote my full version with the demo, now I am in limbo. I found that when I re-scanned Ableton there was a set of three folders there, one of them labelled "Presets", but no "Serum Presets" folder". When I select it I am returned to the screen previous, which instructs me to do the same thing again as though I did nothing. I don't see any definitive solutions to this problem being offered. Are you guys solving it and not sharing the solutions, or are you  keeping the solution to yourselves for some reason? Before re-scanning, I was offered 7 folders from within my documents folder, none of them related save the splice folder. It's not difficult to demonstrate and re-demonstrate the problem/problems, but who knows how to fix it? Why the ambiguity? Why is there not transparency regarding the nature of this problem? Why aren't we getting to the bottom of it once and for all? Where is the impetus? Is everyone just giving up?
Can we not solve this together? Is that not what the internet is for?
Sincerely: Arrow.

Arrow,
I would also suggest Menu->Show Serum Presets folder from within the demo version.  Then assuming that works, quit your DAW and run the update installer found in Splice.

Second, this isn't a support forum, although I've let it slide in to one partially.  You should have access to the Serum forum once your payments begin.  In the meantime,  I would recommend the contact form for support, please mention your DAW and OS.
