Hello everyone.
I have a very weird issue with this function. Because it doesn't work. Or actually, even worse- it works even if I don't want it to. No matter if this setting is checked or not, it behaves as if it was on. It is EXTREMELY frustrating, when I'm playing live on my keyboard I can't bear with that. The last update where I didn't have the issue was 2.0.16, but I have to use 2.0.20. since I've bought a preset pack that has been made on a 2.0.20. Anyone has any idea how to fix it? Is it even FIXABLE by myself? And, maybe most importantly, do y'all encounter the same issue? Thanks.
It's difficult to comment without knowing exactly how you have things set up in Serum. Feel free to email us with an example preset or DAW session to demo the issue.
That said, there is a fix related to this in the next update. Serum 2 fades out the old voice when limiting poly to avoid clicks. The fade time was sometimes getting calculated incorrectly and if it was too long it might appear as the setting not working.
I tested it quite extensively, and found the issue. I mean, I still have no idea how to counter this, but- it only appears when I'm using sustain pedal with my keyboard. If I play a note, let's say, C3, and I held the sustain- it is being held. Just how it should be. BUT- when I play the same note, while still holding the pedal, that previously played note starts to fade. Or maybe, it acts as if I just let go off the pedal FOR THAT PREVIOUSLY PLAYED NOTE (although I've been holding it the whole time), so it just fades depending on the Release knob on the ADSR.
In short- when playing a note, holding it with a sustain pedal on a keyboard and then playing the same note again, the first note played acts as if the sustain pedal doesn't affect this anymore.
I hope you find it understandable, and that the issue will be adressed in the next update. Thanks!
I'm having the same issue. Specifically while my sustain pedal is pressed it nukes the previous same note as if "Limit Same Note Poly to 1" was checked, even when it isn't. Only when not pressing the sustain pedal on longer release tails I'm able to make the repeating notes fade into each other while having the option unchecked.
Works with other instruments, just normal CC64 hold MIDI. Serum can sustain the note, but the issue is just repeating them kills the old same note.
