Hi,
I am new to Serum, just bought Serum 2 a few days ago. I am using Cubase on Win 10.
I often have the issue that notes played on my keyboard "hang" in Serum - you see the yellow indicator above the keys permanently lit and the note keeps playing forever. I can deactivate them manually by clicking on the on-screen keys - often I need to do this 2 or 3 times to turn the note off. But even when all notes are off again some sound keeps playing…
I have to change the preset to really silence Serum.
The issue might be related to performance issues, because I see a very high load on the load meter that Cubase shows.
best regards,
Frank
One more observation: when a note is "stuck" (yellow "LED" above the virtual key stays lit), I cannot "unstuck" it by pressing the key on my (physical) keyboard again. But when I press the sustain pedal, then press the note on my keyboard and then release the sustain pedal, the LED turns off.
We have an update coming very soon which has a lot of host-specific fixes surrounding note IDs and sustain messages.
Good. Looks like it is really needed - because at the moment it looks like I cannot use Serum 2 at all…
I have the same issue, also in Cubase. I just bought Serum 2 but it's unusable this way. I hope the update comes very soon.
I installed the update (2.0.17). Unfortunately, this does not solve my issue. The notes keep still "hanging" in Cubase. Can you please fix this issue soon? If you need any information for fixing this I am happy to help.
I just found this topic in the Cubase forum at Steinberg website: https://forums.steinberg.net/t/incorrect-vst3-note-id-on-note-off-when-sustain-pedal-held/981477/23
So it looks like this is an issue with wrong note IDs in Cubase.
However, I think it would be good to have some "all notes off" Button in Serum - this would help to get rid of stuck notes without having to close and re-open the project in Cubase.
If you are using the sustain pedal then you are probably encountering the Cubase / Nuendo bug mentioned in that forum.
However if you're getting hanging notes without using the sustain pedal at all, it's likely to be a different root cause.
I checked my "workflow" again and have to admit that I used the sustain pedal despite writing differently in this thread. So I am pretty sure I see the same issue.
